Crisis Grants

Program Overview

The crisis program is an extension of LIHEAP to provide assistance to homes in immediate danger of being without heating, with a maximum annual limit of $1,000 per household. Heating emergencies include broken heating equipment or leaking lines that must be fixed or replaced, lack of fuel, a complete shut-off of a heating source, or the danger of having utility service terminated.

As part of LIHEAP, Crisis grant are disbursed through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.

Renters and homeowners in households with an annual income below the 150% Federal Poverty Level (FPL) are eligible to receive assistance. LIHEAP Crisis operates during the region's main heating season, between Nov. 1, 2022 and Apr. 28, 2023. You must have a heating emergency in order to receice a Crisis grant.
